1.14. Anonymize studies and series

The following functionality allows to delete of replace the data stored in the following tags:

  • PatientName;
  • PatientID (patient identificator);
  • PatientBirthDate;
  • PatientSex;
  • InstitutionName (institution where the equipment that produced the composite instances is located);
  • InstitutionAddress (mailing address of the institution where the equipment that produced the composite instances is located);
  • OperatorsName (name(s) of the operator(s) supporting the Series.);
  • PerformingPhysicianName (name of the physician(s) administering the Series);
  • ReferringPhysicianName (name of the patient’s referring physician).

By default, the date of birth is deleted, the sex is set to undefined and the values of the other tags are changed to "Anonymous".

Anonymization is possible only for studies in the Local Storage and opened from a folder or from a CD. To anonymize the study:

  1. Select one or more studies in the Local Storage.
  2. Select the Studies menu and Create anonymized copies of the selected studies.
  3. If necessary, change the values that are assigned to tags after anonymization. To restore default values click the Defaults button.
  4. To Anonymize click OK, to cancel click Cancel.

The selected studies will be anonymized and saved to the Local Storage with the patient name Anonymous.

To anonymize the selected series:

  1. Select study in the Local Storage.
  2. Select the series that you want to anonymize. For details on how to work with series, see Section 1.10.
  3. Select the Series menu and Create anonymized copy of series.
  4. If necessary, change the values that are assigned to tags after anonymization. To restore default values click the Defaults button.
  5. To Anonymize click OK, to cancel click Cancel.

Selected series will be anonymized and saved to the Local Storage with the anonymized mark.
